Ahoy Centre is a water-sports based charity changing people’s lives and building life skills through sailing and rowing. Its primary objective is giving opportunities for disadvantaged and at-risk youths, it also offers opportunities for disabled people to participate in activities and courses on an equal level. Ahoy works with excluded groups, including local schools, as well as referrals from the police and probation services across London.
Ahoy Centre Good Neighbour Funding
Our Good Neighbour funding supports the Shipmates programme. Shipmates is the charity’s longest running programme, benefitting young people from ages 8 to 18, teaching them to sail, row and most importantly the life-skills essential for the work place and future careers. Shipmates as young as 14 have become qualified RYA Assistant Instructors and once trained they then help other Shipmates to aim high and achieve too.
